5th Grade Teachers' Office Hours.  Your teacher will be available to help your child with tutoring, or technology access issues, between the hours of 12pm and 2pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday only.  If you require teacher services at other times, please speak to your individual teacher to make other arrangements.

Contacts between parents and teachers should continue in the same manner that has been established over the past two weeks with your student's teacher. This can be by phone, email, Google Voice, Class Dogo, or possibly through various video conferencing applications. Please note, you are always welcome to contact your classroom teacher through their school email that can be found on their individual Liggett webpages or the Staff Directory.

Important:

For student accountability, at the end of your child's daily schedule, he/she will email their teacher a summary, a sentence or two, about what they learned in each subject that day. A direct link to your teacher's email can be found on their teacher's home page. Click on the email icon, not Subscribe. Complete directions on how to do this are in the link section below.


Daily Study Schedule - Updates Made Weekly

A description of how to find and use the links can be found below the Daily Schedule. If the links say they are restricted, you may need to log out of your Google or Liggett emails.

 

10:00 - 10:25 (2 Parts)

Language Arts - (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

Using the (Audible Stories Link) below, listen to 1 chapter of White Fang per day. In your journal, summarize the plot and your feelings about each character daily.

After you have finished listening to each Part, take a quiz, and write the answers in your journal. You will take a quiz after listening to chapters 4,10,17,24, and 30. The questions to the quiz, and a summary for your support, are in the Files Section, on the right side tab above.

 

Kahn Academy - Language / Grammer - (Tuesday and Thursday)

You can find the assigned lessons in the LINKS secton. Login to Kahn Academy with Gmail (School email and Password). 

You will complete 1 Kahn Academy Grammer lesson in number order on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These lessons are a combination of videos and tests.

These lessons are tracked online to show me your scores and the amount of time you spend on the lesson.

Before watching the video, read the Episode summary and Historical Content sections. 

Watch and Journal, or take a test on 1 Liberty Kid's Episode every Monday and Friday only. Check for assignments and links in the LINK section below.

Episode Tests can be found in the files section on the top right side tab.

Answers to Liberty Kids test questions can be obtained by watching the videos links below or by Google research. Answers must be typed into (the end of the day) email.

You will do 1 complete Kahn Academy History lesson over 3 days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. These lessons are a combination of videos, reading documents, and online tests. If the lesson does not take 3 days, use the extra time to complete other assignments.

Remember, these lessons are tracked online to show me your scores and the amount of time you spend on the lesson.

ScienceEvery day.  Click on a Science link below or open the document in the Files section above. Watch the video, and journal about what you have learned.

Read the document and place the answers to the questions in your daily email to me.

Physical Education   Jumping jacks, stretching, sit-ups, push-ups, doing stairs, walking, jogging in place, dance.

Be creative, draw a scene from history or science studies or from the story White Fang.  We encourage you to use whatever medium you have available to you. (Crayons, markers, charcoal, chalk, paper collage, etc.)  If you have a musical instrument practice daily

Sustained Silent Reading Choose any book of your liking and read it. You can also do a Google search to find articles that add to today's learning or just topics that interest you. Be sure to write this in your Reading Log.
 

2:05 - 2:15

Email your teacher daily - Go to your teacher's homepage. Click on the send email icon above the Subscribe button. In the subject section type today's date. If you have a question, also type in the subject(s) for which you have a question. For example. Subject: May 18 or Subject: May 18 - STmath (for a math question)
 
In the message section, type
1 sentence to describe what you learned in math. Plus the question if needed.
2 sentences for what you learned in History. Plus the question if needed.
2 sentences for what you learned in science. Plus the question if needed.
2 sentence summary of the White Fang chapter. Plus the question if needed.

How to Email your teacher: Click the email your teacher link above the Subscribe button.  When you click on the name section, email providers will display. Click onGoogle (G), then input your email and password and press send. The first time you may have to press ACCEPT.  You will be sent back to the Liggett website where you can input and send your message.

 

Audible Stories for Kids – White Fang Link (here)

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Click on the link above, and press Start Listening. Listen to 1 chapter a day. If the chapter is only a few seconds long, listen to 2 chapters. In your Journal, summarize the plot for each chapter and describe how the story makes you feel. After listening to each part (chapters 2-4, 6-10, 12-17, 19-  24, and 26-30), click on the files link on the right tab above, and select the quiz for the part you have finished. Each quiz has an attached summary to help you.

These quizzes will help you prepare for a final writing piece at the end of the story.

If you close the Browser page you can move back to your current chapter by pressing the chapter button at the bottom of the page.
